Two Witnesses Robin and Pam found me early one day, hopped over the ridgeline of the roof, and winged their way down to the concrete, I was finishing my walk with the dogs. They saw the killing last night (doves are famous gossips), how she leapt into the air and pulled the blue jay down from the sky, while it squawked in her jaws. Now her white fur was stippled red. They cooed in my direction, with a soft lullaby (a children’s song from the dawn of creation), to let me know, they knew, that these things happen.
